One week after moving to our new apartment, we're leaving for our trip to Korea! I haven't been since I was 4, so it'll be like going for the first time for me. I'm pretty excited about our Korean Airlines flight, and about the food. I'm also crazy excited to see someone I really, really, really miss!!
And then we'll be back in a week and a half, in time for my second interview for a pretty promising job. Not the best job in the world, but if I get it, it'll be just enough.
Hopefully I'll have some actual pictures to post next time!

music monday: the happiest song in the world
Sarah at CCFC showed me this song, and I fell in love!

Bobby McFerrin + Jason Mraz + Israel Kamakawiwo'ole = pure joy. This is one of the best medleys I've ever heard, and the happiest song in the world.

moved in
The move-in was successful! It was a really, really, really rough drive down here with the truck, but everything else worked out so beautifully that we that someone was pulling the strings behind today's events. ;) Thanks to our friend Sam's connection to four high school kids, we got boxes and furniture from a 16' truck into our apartment in an hour and fifteen minutes. And thanks to my mom, we had an awesome Korean dinner. And thanks to the stars aligning just right, we are here in New York, in our beautiful new apartment, not wanting to break something or kill each other! It's a miracle! :)
moving day
We're leaving Natick this morning to move into our new apartment! We're uncertain about a lot of logistical things today, but we're praying that we can figure it all out.
It's been a pretty restful couple of days, and we've received so much love from our community! We'll really, really miss you guys and hope to visit soon.

last day in cambridge
Today is moving day! We're moving out of our Cambridge apartment today, then hanging out at Cyrus's mom's place in Natick for a few days, then heading to our new apartment in New York on Tuesday.
It all seems so surreal. Aside from college, I've only gone through two big moves: one when I was six (which doesn't really count), and the other one just last year. Cyrus seems to be taking it all in stride, but it just feels so weird to me!
I didn't think that I'd become so connected to this area and be so reluctant to leave. So maybe it'll be the same in New York - maybe I'll actually have a good time there, become part of a community and begin to love it, like I did here.
Anyway, it's moving day! Busy, busy, busy!

word wednesday: what the em-dash?
I've deceived you. This post is not about words. But punctuation is a good friend of words, so I think we'll be okay.
Did you know that there is such a thing as an em-dash? And that it's different from an en-dash? Which is also different from a hyphen?? What the???
Each one has many uses, but just to show you a little glimpse...
Em-dash. An em-dash (—) is the longest dash and is used to separate parenthetical phrases or clauses in a sentence. More here.
En-dash. An en-dash (–), which is wider than a hyphen but not as long as an em-dash, has only two uses: standing in for versus (The Obama–McCain debate) and showing range (2–3 weeks). More here.
Hyphen. A hyphen (-) is used to make compound words like the pale-skinned girl. (But remember! No more hyphen for Asian Americans!) More here.

silver fish hand catch!
The "I'm on a horse" Old Spice commercial was a tough act to follow, but these writers just keep coming up with crazy stuff!
Apparently he's been posting video replies to a lot of his fan mail, and I guess this is the last one. What an ending!
